LA PORTE—Leaders at the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) have recognized Winn Machine Owners Damon and Dina Gasaway as winners of the E-Day Small Business People of the Year Award.
The Northwest ISBDC is a small business consulting service operating in seven Northwest Indiana counties. Every year for the past 29 years, they recognize the passions and successes of local small business owners who devote their time and energy to making a difference in the area. Selected by a panel of judges, awards are given based on the business owners’ track record of the business, growth in sales, employees, markets, innovations, and challenges faced as well as contributions to the community.
E-Day is designed to honor the work of businesspeople who help drive the Northwest Indiana economy and those who support them on their entrepreneurial journeys. In 2020, the need to recognize this excellence is even more important as business leaders continue to hurdle obstacles.
This year, the Northwest ISBDC has recognized Damon and Dina Gasaway: the owners of LaPorte-based CNC machining shop Winn Machine. Winn Machine is an ISO-certified precision machining shop specializing in turning, milling, and finishing services while employing a vendor-managed inventory system as an additional service to customers.
Winn Machine co-owner Dina Gasaway:
“We were humbled [to receive the award]. We don’t do things to win awards or to be recognized. When we do something to help someone or benefit the community it’s because we feel it is the right thing. We never think we are worthy of an award. There are a lot of companies and people out there doing great things every day. This award brings attention to small business (which we consider part of the backbone of America).”
The Northwest ISBDC will be hosting the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award ceremony on November 12, 2020, 11:30 am to 1 pm. There will be virtual or in-person options for guests: the in-person event will be at the Avalon Manor in Merrillville. Dress code is business casual.
