American machining has spanned over two centuries, standing the true test of time. For over four decades, our machine shop located in LaPorte, Indiana has stood tall. Despite the many challenges that machine shops face, Winndeavor has shown consistent growth and continues to showcase a tradition of hard work and success in the American machining industry.
A Look at the Past
Founding Location
Founded in 1979, Winn Machine started its journey as a welding shop in the small town of Pines, near Michigan City, IN. Acquiring its first manual lathe, Winn Machine transitioned to producing turned parts for local manufacturers.
Moving Up!
In 1985, Winn Machine expanded its operations by purchasing its first pair of Hardinge single spindle screw machines. With a growing workload, the company relocated to a significantly larger 10,000 square foot building to accommodate the increase in demand.
Dreaming Bigger
By 2012, Winn Machine continued to invest in innovation by transitioning to CNC machining technology. With constant innovation and improved technology Winn Machine moved to LaPorte.
Winndeavor Takes Flight
In 2022, Winn Machine purchased Endeavor Machine Products, allowing them to move to an even larger facility in LaPorte. This cemented their commitment to excellence in the American machining industry.
Machinery is in Our DNA
Current CEO, Damon Gasaway, has been with Winn from the early days. Damon began working for the company in 1987 — mostly sweeping floors, deburring and packing parts, and helping around the shop where needed. In time, he developed a reputation for dependability and through his strong work ethic became a shop foreman in 1990.
In 1999, Damon, along with his wife Dina, finalized the purchase agreement for Winn Machine. Damon takes great pride in employing highly trained, specialized talent. The leadership team at Winndeavor works hard to keep the team focused on providing clients with quality products and exceptional service.
Where We Are Now
A company that started as a welding shop with a single lathe machine, now maintains 20 lathes, 10 mills, 2 grinders, and much more. In a very competitive industry, Winndeavor continues to be successful by being responsive and flexible to their clients’ needs.
According to Damon, “Our team members are focused on over-delivering for our clients and working hard to make them happy. This sometimes means we work late and on weekends.”
The mindset that Damon has instilled in every employee at Winndeavor has assured that they are prepared to provide high quality results for years to come. The dedicated team proves day in and day out that they are constantly improving and ultimately, the future of Winndeavor.
