This October, Winn brings notice to Safe Sleep Month in support of healthcare concerns of SIDS—or sudden infant death syndrome—issues spanning across local and national communities. With more than 1/3 of sudden unexpected infant deaths occurring in the U.S. alone, our company offers its support of employees and medical workers alike by raising awareness to the Safe to Sleep movement and reduction of infant mortalities.

With the rise of infant mortality in Northwest Indiana, Winn joins in celebrating La Porte Healthcare Foundation’s launch of 3 new SIDS prevention initiatives against unsafe infant sleep practices. Research proves that the majority of SIDS incidents are a direct result of unsafe sleep areas, such as beds with non-fitted sheets, blankets, or stuffed toys that could suffocate or choke a child during rest. Despite how easily preventable most infant deaths are, rising rates prove it necessary to make parents and caregivers aware of the infant health risks of poor sleep safety within our county.

At Winn, we offer our support by raising awareness to the La Porte Safe Sleep program and encourage others to bring attention to this cause by sharing the #SafeSleepSnap or #ClearTheCrib Challenge tags on media platforms. By normalizing safe sleep practices, educating adults on infant safety, and celebrating medical professionals’ efforts, a concerted effort can be made to reduce infant mortality and bring a new generation into a brighter future.
